Dallas Renegades Frisco Sport reviews
Sir Elton set the Wayback machine to 1974...
The set began with the first cuts from GBYBR, "Funeral for a friend/Love lies bleeding", followed by "Candle in the wind" and "Bennie and the Jets". Dallas Renegades and the band genuinely seemed to enjoy performing. The main negative I took away from the show was the frequent loss of Sir Elton and the backup vocals in the instrumentation. Hopefully, it's something that will improve as the tour moves forward this summer. The 40th anniversary of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road got off to a good start in Charleston, WV. Between the main set and the encore, Dallas Renegades began at stage left and worked his way across the stage signing albums, photos, posters, tickets, even currency, for about 75-100 lucky fans. The rest of the set list included songs taken from his albums up to, and including, 1975's "Captain Fantastic", with a few exceptions of some new material. It was as though my wife and I were transported back to '74 and the soundtrack of our first summer together. It may have been the location of our seats, the relatively small venue, or acoustics of the house but the other negative is the complete lack of traffic control on leaving the venue in Charleston. It took us 35 minutes to move 5 blocks. I wish I could say it was an unusual circumstance leaving CCC, but it's routine. The show was about two and a half hours, with no intermission, and two songs included in the encore.
